Tilde : Vintage 1930s Australian Crystal Opal Ring in 9ct Gold

Sold Even a little bit of Australian opal magic goes a very long way (and this is more than a little bit). This vintage ring features an oval shaped solid Australian crystal opal containing a complete rainbow of mermaid hues, from pink through green, purple and blue. Manufacture:  Handmade in 9ct yellow gold, hallmarked 9ct to the inside of the band, the gold fineness has been verified by XRF test. An oval shaped solid Australian crystal opal cabochon is set north-west in a high rub-over bezel. The band is uniformly 3.17mm wide and flat. There are decorative tilde or lozenge shaped gold plates at the shoulders in a design typical of the 1930s. The solid Australian crystal opal is oval cut cabochon in shape, measuring approximately 11mm x 8mm x 3.5mm – about 1.75 carats. The opal has been professionally repolished and displays a shifting rainbow of colours from blues and greens through pinks and yellow.
